Every person has the right to live a life free from abuse – whatever your gender. Although women are more likely to experience repeated and severe forms of abuse, including sexual violence and serious injury or death, many men do experience violence and abuse also.

Domestic abuse can happen in any relationship, regardless of the gender, background or sexual orientation of the perpetrator or the person being abused. By talking about it we can help all survivors of abuse, we can recognise that abusers can’t be stereotyped, and we can acknowledge that abuse can take many forms. It is never ok.

Domestic abuse services are available for men too. Most of the resources and information available on our site are relevant for anyone experiencing abuse, but the following support is available specifically for men:

Call Equation’s domestic abuse service for men on 0115 960 5556, Monday – Friday 9.30am-4.30pm. For men aged 18 or over living in Nottinghamshire County only.

Or call the Men’s Advice Line on 0808 801 0327. Monday – Friday from 9am-5pm. The Men’s Advice Line provides a range of services aimed primarily at men experiencing domestic abuse from their partner.
