Calling the good and the brave! Do you fancy a fiery challenge?
Learn how to face your fears and do a sponsored march across a bed of hot coals to support our pioneering work against domestic abuse.
On the winter’s evening of Friday, 22nd November 2013, Equation (formerly Nottinghamshire Domestic Violence Forum) is offering the chance for 30 intrepid supporters to do what might be the shortest and most exciting sponsored walk in history, with thanks to Blaze, firewalking experts! Interested? Read on…
What is firewalking?
In simple terms, sponsored individuals, after a motivational training session, walk across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 1236 degrees Fahrenheit, without experiencing any pain or injury at all.
Is it safe?
We have chosen to work with Blaze because of their impeccable professional record; they will get you through the event in complete safety. Blaze have been offering firewalks for over 20 years, their safety checks and procedures are fine-tuned and the team are extremely experienced. Out of all their events, not one person attending a motivational training has refused the opportunity to firewalk.
Why should I do it?
This is an inspirational and barrier-breaking experience for you, while raising money for a fantastic cause. You will feel motivated, empowered, and inspired to face your fears. Given the type of event, donors often offer higher sponsorship than you would get for a normal sponsored walk or sports challenge, so it’s a fantastic way to support Equation.
Do I need to do any preparation?
No! On the evening of the event, you will take part in a motivational psychology fear-busting seminar which will equip you with the resources to walk across the fire bed unharmed.
Great! What do I need to know to sign up?
The minimum age is 14 years. Parental consent is required for 14-17 year olds. There is no upper age limit.
You need to be free on the evening of Friday 22nd November, from approximately 6.00 to 10.00pm.
The Firewalk will be held in a central Nottingham location. The training will be at the Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery, and the event will be followed with a night of music and dancing at the Contemporary Cafébar.
The entry fee is just £25 and we ask that each supporter raise a minimum in sponsorship of £100. Fundraising packs and instructions on how to collect your sponsorship will be provided after registration.
If you’re interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01159 623 237, and we’ll send you an information pack and registration form.
